  • AI Music — Live Orchestra

For the past year, I’ve been working with a team of performers and AI creators to select the most powerful and fun new orchestral music written with the help of artificial intelligence.

    But here’s the secret:

A computer can generate notes, but only a live performance (real people, real sound, real sweat) can transform that into an experience you’ll never forget.

That’s what we’re about to do in San Francisco!

If you’re excited by the idea of hearing something truly new—not just ‘new to you,’ but new to the world—this is your invitation.

Come, be part of the audience. If you’re a musician, let’s talk about playing. If you care about the arts in San Francisco, or want to support innovation and creativity, this is a chance to help make a little bit of history.

We’re looking for listeners, advocates, and partners—anyone who believes that art, at its best, is about more than novelty or technology: it’s about wonder, discovery, and bringing people together for experiences that matter.

  • “Learning how to create moving performances has literally changed my life!”

    Sarah F., violin

  • “The ideas were illuminating!”

    Laurie W., vocalist

  • “I got a lot out of it and it certainly helped my playing.”

    Robert H., cello

  • “I learned so much. I would definitely recommend participating.”

    Philip M., violin

Learn the method the world’s top professional musicians use.

Welcome to the Symphonic Laboratory. Our approach to playing music is grounded in techniques simplified and adapted directly from the world’s top orchestral masters, including Leonard Bernstein and Sergiu Celibidache. Here, we demystify the practices that have shaped the world’s most prestigious professional musicians and present them to you in a setting where you can try them out in practice, question them, refine them, and then use them to create great musical moments for the rest of your life.

This isn’t about abstract theoretical concepts. It’s about giving ourselves the space and time to try, to ask, to learn, and to improve how we make music.

It’s also about the skills that make a tangible difference in your performance. We dive deep into the nuts and bolts of music-making, exploring how to get from instructions on a page to a compelling experience. Our aim is to make our sound support the vision expressed in the score, linking the subtleties of interpretation with logic and intelligibility of how we hear.

Take part in a Symphonic Laboratory intensive workshop—you’ll gain insights into the nuances of professional orchestral playing, equipping you with the powerful techniques and deep understanding that are highly sought-after in today’s competitive musical world.

There’s no better way to refine your artistry, elevate your performances, and align your skills with the highest standards of the world’s greatest orchestras.
